In today's NBA, its rare to find an All Star caliber player who has made his name by doing anything other than scoring a lot of points or being a human highlight reel. Well Cleveland's Anderson Varejao is doing just that.
This year Varejao is getting the national attention he has deserved for most of his career thanks to some eye-catching stats, averaging a double-double with 11 ppg to go along with just under 12 rpg, but Andy has been an invauable piece of this team and outstanding overall player for years under the radar. I couldn't tell you how many games I've watched over the years that Lebron (or now, Kryie) may have had the amazing stats, but it was Andy making a hustle play, taking a charge, grabing a loose ball, or getting a steal that was really the difference in the game.
I know there are a lot of players who do the 'little things that don't show up on the stat sheet' but there arent ANY that do to it night in and night out like Andy. For example, last week in Boston the Cavs were down 1 with 20 seconds to go. After a Cavs miss Kevin Garnett seeemed to have grabbed an easy rebound until Anday somehow knocked it loose. After a long scramble Celtics Foward Brandon Bass took got control of the ball until Andy came out of nowhere and again knocked it out, this time diving on the loose ball and calling a timeout after. Kyrie would later hit the game winning layup, but who really won that game for the wine and gold?
Throw in the fact that Andy is putting up SUPERSTAR numbers for a center (even though hes actually a PF forced to play C) recently, it looks like a no brainer that he should be backing up Dwight Howard in Orlando for the All Star Game. He is from a Cleveland team though, and you know how most people feel about those players.....So we'll see.

New Beginnings..
Aside from the Super Bowl predictions I did a few days ago, my blog has not been nearly as active as I'd like it to be. Two posts in about a year is completely unacceptable. Back, better and more focused than ever this blog will come to life like never before. Along with this blog I will also be very active on other social networks such as twitter (@ PWill12) and Facebook.
Obviously my field is Sports being that I'm a Sports Writer, but I plan to expand my horizon and touch on any subject at any time. For less than a year now I have been blessed to be working under my mentor writing for my local newspaper called the Morning Journal. I cover mostly high school sports but my role is starting to expand. Having this opportunity has opened up many doors for me and now sky really is the limit.
Well that is enough of me rambling about me. I hope to capture all types of audiences with the blogs I post and any feedback, exposure, or advice will definitely be welcomed. Thanks and buckle up for the ride, this is just the beginning of a very exciting chapter of my life.

Super Bowl
This years Super Bowl XLVI match-up between the New England Patriots and New York Giants is a complete toss up. While its hard to go against Brady/Belichik and the revenge factor from the Giants upset and ruining of the Pats perfect season in 07', its also tough to go against a very talented team who hits their stride when it matters most (like last years Packers or the Giants in 07').
All week the spotlights been on the Patriots defense and O-line. No matter what their regular season numbers indicates, these are all pro's and all the best at what they do, when motivated I feel both the D and O-line of the Pats can stand up to the Giants.
If Pats T.E. Rob Gronkowski is healthy and effective today, which it looks as if he will be, this Patriots dynasty will win their 4rth ring.
Final Score- Patriots 31-27
(Also in the Morning Journal)
